This is the first year that I've ever grown mint – spearmint
to be exact. I remember my mum growing
it when I was a kid and loving grabbing a few leaves to munch on while passing
by.
I also recall enjoying my first ever fresh mint tea at the Jolly Joker in the Dam (located in Nieuwmarkt); prepared by the über friendly Lucy. A nice hot cup of mint tea is really soothing and refreshing.
Mint clearly has lots of nostalgic memories for me, which may be why I've been enjoying my fresh mint teas all the more this summer. That, or the appeal to my lazy side – head outside, snip a sprig, toss in a mug of hot water and enjoy. Can’t get easier than that.
