Sriracha & Honey Chicken Wings

These wings are seriously finger licking good!

I recently stumbled upon The Woks of Life’s blog and have already noted several recipes I can’t wait to try out.  But first up are these ridiculously tasty wings.

I made a few adjustments along the way to both the ingredients (minor – upped the honey factor) and cooking approach.

The recipe recommends starting the sauce once the wings are done, but it was taking forever for the sauce to be bubbly on low heat and my scrumptious looking wings were starting to get cold, so I increased the heat to medium and got that sauce nice and bubbly.  This no doubt helped with the sticky factor, a sign of a truly yummy wing in my opinion.

The last time I made these, I increased the broiling time from 5 to 10 minutes to get an extra crispy skin and it definitely worked out better than round 1.  I actually plan on increasing the broiling time again next round to see if that results in an even better final outcome.  I’ll keep you posted.

Looking forward to my next recipe from The Woks of Life.  Recommend checking them out!

Enjoy!

Sriracha & Honey Chicken Wings

Serves 4

Preparation Time – 10 Minutes
Cooking Time – 1 Hour

Ingredients

  • 1 pound chicken wings
  • Salt & pepper
  • 1 tbsp. oil
  • 3 tbsp. butter
  • ¼ cup Sriracha
  • 3 tbsp. honey
  • 1 tbsp. rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp. soy sauce
  • 1 tsp. hoisin sauce
  • ½ tsp. kosher salt
  • 1 tbsp. chopped cilantro

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 400˚.  Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the chicken wings, oil, salt and pepper.  Toss to coat evenly.  Lay in a single layer and bake for 40 minutes, turning once halfway.
  3. Broil the chicken wings for an additional 10 minutes, until nicely browned and crispy.
  4. Once the chicken wings have been flipped, start working on the sauce by melting the butter in a skillet, set over medium low.  Add the Sriracha, honey, rice wine vinegar, soy sauce, hoisin sauce and salt and heat until bubbly.
  5. Add the chicken wings once done.  Toss to coat, sprinkle with cilantro and serve immediately.

* Notes

  • Adapted from The Woks of Life.
  • Really tender and juicy.
  • Not really that spicy, could handle increasing the spice factor.
